Postponement of Ely Festival

Unsurprisingly, the Ely Festival of Church Music due to take place on Saturday 25th April 2020 will need to be postponed, and the current planned rehearsals will need to be cancelled.
The good news is that arrangements have been made to hold a Festival of Choral Evensong in King’s College Chapel, Cambridge on Saturday 19th September 2020. The music will include music by Charles Wood and also the Ayleward responses.
Choirs and individual singers are warmly invited to take part. Please register an interest as soon as possible by emailing me at lydia.cant@elyrscm.org.uk

Advice on live streaming

From Jan Payne, Hon Bishop’s Adviser for Music

First, my thoughts and prayers are with you all at this most difficult time when church, as we each know it, has been put on hold. Although we are no longer able to gather together to worship, I am aware quite a few churches are looking to live stream their services and some to include live music which may, or may not require a license. Please note that CCLI does NOT cover you to live stream music as part of worship.

The RSCM has produced a very concise statement about licenses for live-streaming if you plan to do so – follow the link below. Please make sure whoever in your church is looking after any online worship is aware about music.

Thank you and best wishes to you all.

Pianist/Organist for the Parish of Burwell with Reach, Cambridgeshire

We are looking for an organist/pianist who enjoys both contemporary & traditional church music. You will work with our enthusiastic choir leader to develop the music in our church and, as well as playing our fine organ, will provide piano accompaniment for our music group and choir. We usually have one service every Sunday and a weekly choir practice, with extra seasonal services. Availability for weddings and funerals would be helpful. Remuneration and fees will be within RSCM guidelines.
